So I just faxed the IRS my application for a PTIN- thats the number I use on tax returns to identify myself rather than my SSN.
I should have done it weeks ago when I started doing tax returns, but up until last week I still felt like everything should be double checked by someone else.
Don’t get me wrong- most things I still like someone to glance over, but for the basic ones- like w-2 and a schedule A? I’m totally comfortable. But not with the whole having to sign with my SSN righ there. The bad thing? It takes the IRS 6 weeks to get me the PTIN. So 6 more weeks of that business…
